Crystals and Gemstones: Healing the Chakras

Using crystals and gemstones for healing goes back to our most ancient civilizations.  Medicine Men and Women, Shamans and healers of all types have used the power of crystals in all sorts of ways across the globe and through the span of centuries.  From the ancient Sumerians and Egyptians to Native American cultures, healers and mystics alike had extensive knowledge in the healing power of crystals and gemstones.  Although we have gained volumes of knowledge about the Crystal Kingdom form many cultures, the wisdom of the ancient wise men of India have shared with us our current knowledge of the 7 energy centers of the body known as “Chakras” in Hindu.

“The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates to “wheel” or “disk”.  This term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven main Chakras which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head. To visualize a Chakra in the body, imagine a swirling wheel of energy where matter and consciousness meet. This invisible energy, is vital life force, which keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive.”

When our Chakras are in balance, we feel healthy, whole and strong.  When they are out of balance, sickness can result, along with a laundry list of symptoms resulting in being overall “unwell”.  Crystals and Gemstones have a natural ability to re-balance out of balance Chakras. When one of your Chakras are in need of a little balance, there’s a great technique right at your fingertips- “Laying on of Stones”. This is a great technique for self healing.  It’s simply using the vibration of the right crystal like a tuning fork for your Chakras.  (See common stones and  Chakra Correspondences below).

To begin, lie down in a comfortable place.  Clear your mind and body of outside disturbances, and find yourself in that quiet space of meditation.  Tune in to your body, and ask it to reveal to you what needs “tuning”.  Once you identify the Chakra  that needs attention, lay your crystal or stone in the center of the Chakra.  Focus on your breathing, and let the crystal work its magic.  Visualize your body aligning the gears of the wheel in that space. Once you feel that “click” of alignment, move on to the next one.  As you gain experience in using crystals with your your Chakras, you may want to try setting yourself up with a stone on each Chakra for a whole body Crystal Meditation- it’s pure magick!
